Will Sprott

b-willWill Sprott is the songwriter & singer of the musical combo the Mumlers. He was born and raised in the farming-community-turned-nerve-center-of-the-Digital-Age, San Jose, California. One of his great grandfathers played piano accompaniment to silent films in a small town in Ohio before the advent of the talkie, another traveled around Africa in the '20s & '30s with a band of three golden-voiced sisters playing a collapsable pump organ & singing gospel music with the financial backing of a wealthy cattle rancher. His great uncle was a prolific author & scholar of the paranormal who named the Bermuda Triangle. Many of the women in his family have been librarians, although one worked in a candy factory. Many of the men are war veterans or have worked on one side or the other of the legal professions, although one built small trees for scale models of urban environments.

How these facts inform his songs & world view can be sussed out by listening to the two albums he has recorded with his band: Thickets & Stitches (2008) & Don't Throw Me Away (2009). His musical travels have led him from sea to shining sea performing everywhere from the Fillmore in San Francisco to the Bowery Ballroom in New York City & lots of watering holes, living rooms & rats' nests in between, sharing stages with many of his favorite artists along the way. He is currently compiling a new pile of tunes which he hopes to record in early 2011.
